I took advantage of the local holiday this week to see the Fendi Artisans of Dreams Exhibition, which is open to the public until December 11. The exhibition is free of charge and open daily from 10 am until 8 pm.  The Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, Fendi’s headquarters since 2015, provides the perfect backdrop for the Fendi Artisans of Dreams.  

The Palazzo, which is popularly referred to as the square Colosseum, is worth a visit on its own for architecture enthusiasts.  The Palazzo was originally designed for the 1942 World Fair (canceled after the outbreak of World War II).  The panoramic views from atop the Palazzo are amazing at sunset.  

Fendi offers year-round access to the ground floor to the public to enjoy exhibits celebrating Italian design and craftsmanship.  Rome’s metro Line B is the quickest option for visiting the Palazzo, located in the EUR suburbs.  

Fendi Artisans of Dreams Exhibition

The exhibition included an overview of the fashion house’s history and the indomitable designer Karl Lagerfeld’s influence on its Fur Atelier.  The fashion house was founded in Rome in 1925 and is renowned for its leather products, fur, accessories and ready to wear.  Lagerfeld’s collaboration with Fendi dates back to the 1960s.  Many of the exhibits focused on Fendi’s fur expertise, including some interesting immersive exhibits.
